Job Title: Volunteer Manager

Location: Reading, Pennsylvania

Job Description:
General Description

The Volunteer Manager is responsible for the direct supervision of volunteer advocates. This includes the coordination of volunteer activities; all aspects of case management; and assisting in recruitment, training, and retention of volunteers. The Volunteer Manager reports directly to the Executive Director, who is responsible for his/her performance evaluations.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Recruitment of potential volunteer advocates

o Speaking to community groups

o Assisting with Informational Sessions

o Writing press releases

o Fielding phone calls from interested individuals

o Assist in screening potential volunteers

§ Reviewing volunteer applications and tracking submission of necessary paperwork

§ Participating in volunteer interviews

· Case Management

o Direct supervision of volunteer advocates

o Develop strong working relationships with volunteers

o Assist in development of advocacy plans for each case

o Communicate regularly with each volunteer

o Attend dependency court hearings

§ Participate in court hearings if necessary

o Develop professional working relationship with the local child welfare agency, legal professionals and court staff, and social service agencies

o Possess a working knowledge of issues and dynamics within families in crisis related to child abuse/ neglect

o Possess a working knowledge of resources available within the community to assist families

o Maintain case and volunteer records

· Training

o Assist in planning and implementing National CASA’s training curriculum

o Assist in scheduling guest speakers for pre-service and in-service trainings

o Conduct in-service trainings

· Retention

o Plan and implement retention activities in addition to in-service trainings

Secondary Responsibilities:

· Contribute to the success of CASA events

o Assist in planning of special events

o Assist in implementation of activities before and during each event

· Oversee administrative volunteers

· Oversee interns as directed and when appropriate

· Assist with day to day CASA operations (i.e., answering the phone)

Education/ Experience

The successful candidate will possess strong time management skills, the ability to multi-task, experience working with or overseeing volunteers, strong leadership skills, and good written and verbal communication skills, in addition to a commitment to CASA’s mission. Knowledge and understanding of issues and dynamics within families in crisis relating to child abuse and neglect given preference. A bachelor's degree in a social service-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is a plus, but not mandatory.
