Job Title: Communications Specialist

Location: Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Job Description:
THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
• Develop and recommend to the Chief Marketing Officer communication plans for the overall organization, and for specified programs/services, and then oversee the implementation of those plans to both internal and external audiences
• Write creative content, edit, proofread and refresh all communications to enhance the image of the Foundation
• Create and distribute press releases, media relations content, website and social media content
• Research media coverage and industry trends for public relations and publicity
• Work with media outlets for timely and appropriate advertisement submissions
• Work with internal staff to create a working calendar so that all media submissions are prepared and deadlines are met
• Coordinate with outside sources to ensure their calendars are updated with current, accurate Foundation information
• Assist with email and social media campaigns to generate website traffic
• Oversee the gathering of stories/images, content, editing, design, production schedule, printing and distribution of the annual report for the Foundation
• Coordinate all scheduling and logistics for the marketing department
• Manage the logistics and communications for all marketing department events and activities
• Serve as first point of contact for all communications, public relations and community outreach related calls
• Organize and manage inventory system for all marketing and communications department materials such as brochures, posters, travel show materials, etc.
• Responsible for submitting all marketing and communications related purchase orders, expenditures and invoices to the Finance department
EDUCATION/SPECIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or related field with 2-4 years’ experience or equivalent
• Superior oral and written communications skills in addition to strong editing skills
• Experience at writing marketing content for a wide variety of media
• Excellent knowledge of Office Suite, and other Marketing tools.
• Ability to adapt & reprioritize projects to ensure deadlines are met
• Excellent interpersonal skills that engenders mutual respect and cooperation with all levels of internal and external clientele.
